I played a lot of cricket during my childhood and at once thought of choosing it as a lucrative career option. But people around me convinced me to drive my thoughts towards finding myself a potentially safer alternative ie. as a Software Engineer. As time passed, my interest in Cricket waned and it began to look silly. I gained interest in games like football & TT. Of them, TT was hard to learn, but footballing came naturally.
Football seems to me the best sport for exemplifying team building. Even one player can be the Achilles heel for the team. With it, football releases the pressure on an individual and the developed synergy boosts the strength of the team. I believe good tactics enhances decision making and reduces risk failure.
Recently, I played in a corporate tournament in a team named 'Horizon'. We played our first match with a bench strength of only 11 players. We instilled confidence in each other's abilities and went on to rout the opposition by 4-0. The immense joy after winning was inexplicable. We went on to reach the finals where we lost! Everybody had some reasons with explanations to offer for the strategic failure.
It felt like a bolt from the blue, but we learnt a lot during the tournament.
